Family Support

We have 11 Family Support Workers within our team supported by our Family Support Lead.
Who are Family Support Workers?
• Staff with experience of working with families and young children. They are from a variety of backgrounds such as early years, health and social work.
• They have up to date information about the range of family support services and activities in the area
• They understand that all parents/carers need support and advice with concerns that arise in day-to-day family life and are committed to helping resolve problems

What support do Family Support Workers offer?
Parents/carers know what is best for their child and want them to be happy and succeed.
Family support workers can help by:
  • listening to parents/carers and children
  • offering support and advice
  • providing services that are convenient for families such as in the home, the Children Centre or a venue of parent choice
  • supporting to activities and groups
  • supporting with parenting strategies
  • sign-posting to other agencies such as housing and benefit advice, schools and early years settings.

Children need love, attention, healthy meals, play, routines, guidance and boundaries.  Sometimes circumstances can make it difficult for parents to do this effectively and they require Family Support.
Family Support is a short term service to help families identify their needs and address them accordingly. An allocated worker will help and look at a family's situation and decide what they need help with.
We work with families dealing with mental health problems, difficulties with parenting, children with behavioural difficulties, relationship, domestic abuse, problems engaging in education, emotional or benefits issues and financial hardship. We support families and signpost to other organizations to meet their needs and empower them to be able to manage without support.
